Church
St. Tower at North End of Nashville Passenger Station
Nashville,
TN. Early 1980's
Control
Machine and Model Board from the Church St. Tower.
The model
board is the diagram with occupancy lights in the back, with each
signal block a different color, so the operator can quickly tell
what or who is where.
When the
passenger station was a passenger station, the black area in the
center of the fan-out contained a number of stub end tracks that
were used for baggage/express etc. The tracks shown on the
board, are the outermost through tracks which were used by the
through passenger trains, or an originating Memphis train.
Originating trains for Chattanooga often left from one of these
stub tracks.

Control
Machine and Model Board
Nashville,
TN. Late
70's
From
the old South End Tower, which sat astride the passenger station throat
tracks, about 4 blocks south of Demonbreum St. It is long gone
history by now.
The model board
is the diagram with occupancy lights in the back, with each signal block
a different color, so the operator can quickly tell what or who is
where. This type of plant was very common, and the Church St.
tower had a similar one.
When the passenger
station was a passenger station, the black area in the center of the
fan-out contained a number of stub end tracks that were used for
baggage/express etc. The tracks shown on the board, are the
outermost through tracks which were used by the through passenger
trains, or an originating Memphis train. Originating trains for
Chattanooga often left from one of these stub tracks.
